Clubs and Organizations

American Canoe Association — Serves the nation's paddlers by helping to ensure safe, enjoyable recreation opportunities on America's waterways.

American Rivers — The nation's leading river conservation group, which has worked since 1973 to protect wild and scenic rivers, repair damaged rivers and restore wildlife habitat.

American Whitewater Affiliation — A national organization with a membership of almost 8,000 whitewater boating enthusiasts and more than 160 local paddling club affiliates. Its mission is to conserve and restore America's whitewater resources and to enhance opportunities to enjoy them safely.

Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness — A site for learning more about the Boundary Waters Wilderness or connecting to other environmental groups.

Inland Sea Kayakers — an organization of sea kayaking enthusiasts who enjoy sharing trips, sharing information, and improving their skills.

National Organization of Whitewater Rodeos (NOWR) — A committee of the American Whitewater Affiliation created to organize North America's growing number of whitewater rodeo events.

Norwegian Canoe Association (NCA) — National organization that includes various clubs in whitewater kayaking, sea kayaking and dragon boat racing.

On-Water Sports — Links to paddling clubs, outfitters and event calendars.

Rapids Riders - Rapids Riders seeks to promote the responsible enjoyment of whitewater canoeing and kayaking through volunteer instruction in technique and safety, combined with trips and informational activities – while also working with local agencies and private concerns to ensure the future of the sport in the upper Midwest.

River Network — A nationwide network of grassroots groups that speak out for rivers and work with landowners and public agencies to conserve rivers and their surrounding lands.

Superior Kayak and Outdoor Adventure Club-a group interested in kayaking on Lake Superior

The Rocky Mountain Canoe Club — Colorado-area organization covers all aspects of paddle sports from flatwater to whitewater with an emphasis on the open canoe.

Trade Association of Paddlesports (TAPS) — Provides access to paddlesports businesses, products, services, news and events across the United States.

Boundary Waters Canoe Area — This site is a public service for patrons of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW).

Boundary Waters Journal — Publication focusing on the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Quetico Provincial Park and surrounding Superior National Forest.

Canoe and Kayak — Magazine for canoe and kayak enthusiasts. Offers techniques, tips, travel and product information. Paddler Magazine — Online magazine features articles, river flow information, buying guide and destinations.

Sea Kayaker — The cyber version of this magazine offers online articles, product reviews, techniques, a calendar of events and club listings.

WaterTribe Online Magazine — Articles from paddling instructors and adventurers. Also, forums and database for sea kayaking, canoeing, and sailing.

WaveLength Paddling Magazine — Kayaking magazine with articles on paddling destinations, technique, products and a section for finding paddling partners.

Wooden Canoe Journal — The bimonthly journal of the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association, Ltd.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) — Detailed information on oceans, climate, weather, fisheries, navigation and more. Especially relevant for sea kayakers.

NOAA Hydrologic Information Center — River and streamflow conditions provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
